There have always been Fish and Chip shops in Didsbury, but over the years the number of plaices (get it?) serving quality fish and chips has fluctuated greatly.
A few years back Bobs became the Didsbury Fish Bar on School Lane and their fish and chips have had mixed reviews ever since.
In the last couple of years both Frankies Fish Bar and Fosters Fish and Chips have arrived. Frankies Fish Bar on Burton Road and Fosters Fish and Chips at the junction of Wilmslow Road and
Dean Dene Road in the Village opposite Shell.
At the moment (Oct 2010) we actually have a fair share of Decent fish and chip shops. You should check out Frankies Fish Bar for the vege Haloumi fish alternative and Fosters Fish and Chips for the Gluten free and the ridiculously large fish they sell.

Of course if you are looking for something a little posher then you can eat in at several places in Didsbury and still get a good portion of fish and chips. You would be wise to check in advance in case they have changed their menus:
