Friends of Parsonage Gardens Didsbury Gardens Society (Bradley Fold Allotments) are running a free course for anyone interested in growing their own produce.
The course takes place at Alpine House, Parsonage Gardens in Didsbury on Sunday 18th September 2011, 2.00 – 4.00pm
Have you thought of growing your own food but not sure how to take the first steps? Have you already made a start but would like to know a little more? Would you like to find out what resources, help and advice are available locally? Then why not come along for an enjoyable couple of hours and have some of these questions answered? Topics to be covered will include:
Making a site/space – a corner of your garden, a patio, pots/containers, in among your flowers?
Planting – what you might want to grow, or can grow; what time of year; how best to prepare your soil; the use of compost; where do you get your seeds or seedlings from; how much space do your seedlings need?
Looking after your plants – watering; thinning out; keeping pests and diseases at bay. Harvest time!
Finding out – help and advice; books; websites; local sources of information.
If you would like to attend (remember there is no charge!) please contact Alan Hill on 07719 659 689 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Places are necessarily limited and pre-booking is essential. We look forward to seeing you on the 18th September.
