Oxfam in Didsbury will open its doors to late-night shoppers from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday 30 November.
Customers are promised a unique Christmas shopping experience with a huge range of seasonal goods – both new and donated - on offer at the charity shop on Wilmslow Road.
And acclaimed children’s author Livi Michael will provide a magical touch by opening the evening at 5 pm with a reading from her new novel Malkin Child – a chilling tale for winter nights! Signed copies of the book will be on sale after the reading.
Throughout the evening high-quality gifts will be on display, including books and designer-label party wear, all donated by generous locals. Customers will also have the opportunity to sample some of Oxfam’s delicious Christmas food Fair Trade products.
Said Oxfam manager, Wendy Elliott: “Oxfam has to be unique because it’s the only place where you can buy anything from a Christmas candle to an alpaca goat!”
“We have a huge range of gifts, food and chocolate in our new products section. For those looking for something a little more unusual, our Oxfam Unwrapped scheme is ideal.”
Meanwhile, donations of clothes, gifts and books are needed to keep shelves filled in the busy run-up to Christmas. “Donations of good-quality clothing and accessories will be particularly welcome,” said Wendy.
