Manchester WACs Lacrosse Club play during the winter at Didsbury Cricket Club. This year is their Centenary season and they are celebrating with a weekend of events and the launch of the WACs 100.
All the 'old' boys of the club and of Cheadle Hulme School (which is where our club was born) have been invited to join the team for the weekend.
4th - 6th November 2011
The Friday will take the form of a light hearted quiz, followed by the centennial game on the Saturday with a buffet and speeches in the evening. On the Sunday there will be a fun game and a BBQ in the afternoon, followed by a special Didsbury Comedy Club, in association with the Didsbury arts festival.
The idea behind the WACs 100 is to promote the club in the local area and to raise some money for the club. A special centenary kit has been produced which is a replica of the original kit that the team wore in 1911.
The team are having a number 100 framed and 100 plaques placed below it. The aim is to get local companies to donate £100 to the club in exchange for their company name to go on the plaque which will be displayed in the club for, fingers crossed, the next 100 years!
If you'd like to get involved with the events or sponsor the 100 plaque display, you can find out more about the club, or contact them via their website.
