Paupers Wood Conservation Day

Paupers Wood is having a general conservation day on Sunday 1st August from 11am - 3pm.

Paupers Wood is a small, but very beautiful patch of wood on Nell Lane West Didsbury. Originally a burial place for the Victorian poor from the old Withington Workhouse, Paupers Wood was bought by Mary Machlachlan to protect it from possible development.

The event focuses on monitoring the Wood's biodiversity, identifying & removing saplings to allow the right trees to grow into very big trees, generally tidying up and enjoying being in amongst the trees. The day is open to all, but be aware there will be tools in use so children should be supervised. Picnicking is encouraged!
