Didsbury Dinners: The Low-Carbon Community Cookbook
40 pages of inspirational low-carbon recipes, including soups, stews and broths; salads, sides and light bites; mains; desserts; preserves; and beverages, with stunning colour photography throughout. One of the most effective ways of cutting greenhouse gas emissions is by considering the food on our plates. This book explains the main ways of making real food-carbon savings: * Reducing meat and dairy consumption. * Buying organically-produced food. * Buying local, seasonal food, sold by local retailers – or growing or foraging some of your own. * Cutting down on food waste, avoiding packaging and recycling. * Cutting down on meals out, such as takeaways, by cooking more from scratch at home. * Handy practical tips – along with favourite recipes donated by Didsbury residents, schools, community groups and businesses – make it easy to put these ideas into practice.
