As Royal wedding fever sweeps the nation, Oxfam in Didsbury will join in the celebrations by holding a street party on Saturday 30 April.
From 11 am until 4 pm, the car park behind the charity shop on Wilmslow Road will be transformed with colourful stalls, bunting and balloons to mark the historic union of Prince William and his bride, Kate Middleton.
A variety of stalls will sell a range of goods including arts and crafts, plants, toys, books and jewellery. Younger visitors will be entertained with games, face painting, a lucky dip and a crown-making competition.
Refreshments, including homemade lemonade, cupcakes and old-fashioned sweets, will add a traditional flavour to the festivities. Meanwhile, local disc jockey, Peter Switzer, will be offering his services free of charge to ensure the day goes with a swing.
All proceeds raised will go towards a £1,700 Oxfam Unwrapped project to build a much-needed classroom for a community in the developing world.
Didsbury Oxfam manager, Wendy Elliott, said: “Everyone’s invited to our street party. Come along and enjoy the fun!
