Sainsbury's make White Lion Withington Application
Sainsbury's have submitted a planning application to convert the listed White Lion pub in Withington into a Sainsbury's Local.
The pub which sits on the most prominent corner of the village at the junction of Wilmslow Road and Palatine road has been empty since it closed down. Recently work was carried out to improve the roof and repoint the building.
Under current plans the new store would make use of the ground floor while upper floors are converted to apartments. The existing car park will be used for both customers and residents.
The application which can be viewed in full here states:
"Creation of retail unit (A1) at ground floor and basement (totalling 632 sqm) and change of use to 6 residential apartments (C3) at first and second floor, erection of two storey rear extension facing Burton Road following demolition of existing ground floor extension, creation of 18 car parking spaces and associated landscape works and internal works to facilitate change of use and repair and repainting of stone columns and railings under Listed Building Consent 093493/LO/2010/S1"
